‘Transverse Movement ‘ Elian’s huge new street art mural in Milan, Italy

Argentinian Street artist Elian has not stopped since his Belgium visit to the Crystal Ship festival! His latest mural, ‘Transversal Movement’, has brought him to Milan Italy, as part of the Salone del Mobile program, curated by Alice Cosmai.

This mural was a great challenge for Elian due to the huge size of the old factory facade, measuring a whooping 70×12 metres! The windows and doors gave the wall an interesting surface and was an important factor in achieving the final effect of ‘Transversal Movement’. Elian speaks about how he achieved this below…

“The main information of my design is at both ends of the mural. leaving breathing space in the middle of the painting generates a break in the building, and a point of tension towards the bottom.
The facade full of windows, trim and doors, function as a grid to accompany the artwork to the sense of rupture. If the wall was super flat and did not have this high level of information, the effect of the composition would have been adverse.” Elian

Elian certainly has brought movement to the building. With the old factory being next to water you can sense the paint crashing down towards the pavement and the energy moving the paint up towards the opposite side executing transverse movement perfectly.
