Dima Fatum tells a surreal picture-story through street art, Kiev, Ukraine 2016

Street artist Dima Fatum has finished painting another huge wall on offer in Kiev, Ukraine for Art United Us. Art United Us project unites two hundred artists through mural art and the promulgation of maintaining peace on Earth, and is curated by Geo Leros, Iryna Kanishcheva and Waone Interesni Kazki.

The huge wall tells a surreal picture-story about the historical and contemporary context of the Kharkov neighbourhood, the second-largest city in Ukraine. The composition is filled with a variety of Ukrainian traditional characters, each of which illustrates this area.

The face of Taras Shevchenko is included, a Ukrainian poet, writer, artist, public and political figure, as well as folklorist and ethnographer. Shevchenko is also known for many masterpieces as a painter and an illustrator. Petroglyphs, images created by removing part of a rock surface as a form of rock art, can also be seen. Boyars, the upper ruling class of Kyivan Rus’ are all cleverly mixed in with animals, etc.
