The incredible talent of the Spanish artist duo PichiAvo has brought to life a stunning mural on the renowned Houston Bowery Graffiti Wall.
This iconic wall, located in the vibrant Lower East Side/Chinatown area of Manhattan, was acquired by Goldman Properties in 1984 and had been predominantly used for advertisements for nearly twenty years until 2008.
In 2008, the first mural was painted as a tribute to Keith Haring on his 50th birthday, a recreation of his legendary Houston Street and Bowery mural from 1982. Since then, the wall has been a canvas for many renowned artists, including RETNA, Shepard Fairey, Os Gemeos, and countless others, adding to the wall’s rich tapestry of art and creativity.
Other artists that have painted the famous wall include RETNA, Kenny Scharf, Barry McGee, Shepard Fairey, AIKO, Os Gemeos, JR, Keith Haring, CRASH, Faile, How & NOSM, REVOK/POSE, Swoon, Maya Hayak, and Ron English.
“We are excited about the opportunity to bring our ‘Urbanmythology’ to the Houston Bowery wall, where we’ll combine classics that coexist in the city,” PichiAvo
Pichi and Avo have been working together for over a decade now, and they have even merged their names to form PichiAvo. It’s impressive to see how their collaboration has evolved over the years.
