Street Artist Franco Fasoli – JAZ goes Back to School! Ukraine, 2017

Back to School Ukraine is curated by French artist Julien Malland aka Seth Globepainter and Oleg Sosnov, Mural Social Club, with the support of UNICEF Ukraine and Sky Art Foundation. The project is dedicated to the mural art in schools, kindergartens and other locations, related with children or education, in socially vulnerable zones.

Argentinian artist Franco Fasoli, aka JAZ painted the latest mural on the school wall in the dormitory district Darnytsa in Kiev.

The piece reflects the idea of invisible connections in nature between animals, and humans as well. Meeting and sharing are the basic principles of comunication between human beings, these values are also very appropriate in local ukrainian context. JAZ felt that the children of Ukraine are the best audience to learn the importance of communication and human connection.

“For me personally it was a kind of a challenge, because I am an artist, who embodies the ideas of confrontation and collision on his images, but this time the environment changed me and switched the idea of confrontation into the idea of communication, using one of my signature symmetric images” JAZ

“I reflected a dialog between wild felines in a forest, speaking to each other the language, which can be understood only by them. In their case it is interpreted through the stripes on their skin” JAZ

“The communication and connection through a kind of signals, without any words and, in my case, this experience was similar to a dance” JAZ

“Being a Spanish speaker I am trying to communicate with the local environment and to feel the people’s emotions, related to my art-work” JAZ

“This time the choice of colors was a key for connection with the environment. The common colors in the people’s clothes, buildings and cars. The use of namely this pallet in the mural allowed to merge harmoniously with the environment at the other level”. JAZ

Other murals for ‘Back to School, Ukraine’ have been painted by French artist Seth Globepainter entitled “Popasna’s swing” and Italian street artist Millo entitled “Power of Imagination”.
