A new mural by the elusive Banksy has been painted on the side of a hair and beauty salon on the corner of Rothesay Avenue in Nottingham.
The image depicts a girl playing with a disused bicycle wheel like a hula hoop borrowed from the broken bike leant against the signpost.
The bicycle could be a reference to the city’s famous Raleigh factory which closed its doors in 2002 ending 114 years of bicycle production in the city and thousands of jobs in the area.
The mural comes as Nottingham remains the highest in the country for coronavirus infection rates, and is now on ‘High’ Alert restrictions.
Banksy may have chosen Nottingham to cheer them up during these tighter restrictions, with the playful mural perhaps a message to stay optimistic and look for the positives in these testing times and to focus on the good things.
