First coat 2015 is back for a second year in the sunshine coast town of TooWoomba, Australia. First Coat 2015 officially kicks off tomorrow morning with thirty large scale murals across the city, fourteen free side events & live music at the festival HQ.
Dubbed Second Coat, the three day festival starts 16th May and will continue through until Monday 18th May. Except some seriously talented street artists for the three day event. Headliners of the festival include Californian Madsteez, Does from the Netherlands and New Zealand based artist Askew.
There are also programmed side events running over the three days including exhibition openings by Shida, a custom group show by printhouse, Stupid Krap, Urban Design panel discussions, laneway markets, artist talks and eighteen musical acts playing at the pop up Swamp Bar at Kontraband Studios.
Artists began to arrive today to prepare for the unique cultural event which has put Toowoomba on the map. Toowoomba is seeing young people create their own environment with such passion and drive that the cultural input is attracting a completely different demographic group. GraffitiStreet sent local girl Danni to find out what First Coat is all about and capture the beginning of the festival.
