Giulio Vesprini Celebrates His 100th Mural with ‘Defend-G100’ in Sarajevo
Italian urban artist Giulio Vesprini has completed his 100th mural, Defend-G100, during the 2026 FASADA Festival in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. His first mural in the city transforms a residential building into a vibrant tribute to the surrounding natural landscape and a call to protect it from environmental destruction.

Created as part of Vesprini’s Urban Postcards series, the monumental composition brings together bold geometric forms, sweeping curves and a vivid palette of red, blue, pink, green and yellow. Drawing inspiration from the colours of the neighbouring buildings and the topography of Sarajevo, the artist has translated the city’s rivers, countryside and mountains into an abstract visual language.

Giulio Vesprini’s 100th mural: A landscape worth defending
The work responds to the growing pressures of human exploitation on Sarajevo’s natural environment. Through his distinctive approach to archigraphy, which brings together architecture and graphic design, Vesprini creates a dialogue between the built environment and the landscape it occupies.

A large red circle anchors the upper composition, while flowing colour fields and an expressive, painterly section of vegetation introduce an organic contrast to the architectural geometry. The word DEFEND, accompanied by the artist’s G100 milestone, reinforces the mural’s message of environmental preservation.

For Vesprini, the project also became a deeply personal experience. Reflecting on his first visit to Sarajevo, he described a city whose history, architectural character and extraordinary sense of community exceeded his expectations. The warmth of local residents and the FASADA Festival team left a lasting impression, transforming an important artistic milestone into an equally memorable human connection.

Part of FASADA Festival’s 2026 programme, Defend-G100 stands as both a celebration of 100 completed murals and a reminder that protecting the natural landscape is inseparable from preserving the identity of the places we inhabit.
