French-Swiss artist Saype’s worldwide ‘Beyond walls Project’ extends his symbolic human chain to Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
In a polarizing world, the artist chooses to symbolically create the largest human chain in the world to invite us to benevolence and to live together: the Beyond Walls project. A combination of pairs of intertwined hands, painted on the ground across the world, slide from city to city, to symbolize union, mutual aid and common effort beyond the walls.
After the launch of this international project in June 2019 at the foot of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, followed by Andorra, Geneva and Berlin, the fifth stage and first African date takes place in Ouagadougou.
Saype works on his giant biodegradable land-art painting at the “Monument des heroes” in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
This 200 meter-long fresco covering approximately 5000 square meters was realized using biodegradable pigments made from charcoal, chalk and water.
This art piece is the fifth step of the worldwide project “Beyond Walls” aiming at creating the longest symbolic human chain around the world promoting values such as togetherness, kindness and openness to the world.
The land art is in front of the ‘Monument of National Heroes’. The First President and Revolutionary Leader of Burkina Faso, Thomas Sankara, built the monument celebrating independence, the republic, the revolution and democracy in his power.
The ‘Beyond walls Project’ will eventually link twenty megacities of the globe to the same ethos: Optimism and living together.
