Paul Insect (b. 1971) is a British contemporary artist whose roots in London's 1990s underground art scene helped shape his distinctive approach to Pop Art, Dada and street culture. Known for his masked figures, fragmented portraits and vibrant mixed-media compositions, his work combines bold colour, collage and dark humour to explore identity, desire and human behaviour. Working across painting, printmaking, sculpture and puppetry, Insect has collaborated with Banksy, BÄST and musician DJ Shadow. His imaginative Fly Tip Theatre puppets appeared at Banksy's Dismaland (2015) and Beyond the Streets (2018), while his monumental Rainbow Dude sculpture featured at Glastonbury Festival in 2019. His experimental practice continued with Beyond the Streets London at the Saatchi Gallery (2023), alongside international solo exhibitions, establishing him as a distinctive voice in contemporary urban art.
