TOX
The lowdown on TOX
London
TOX, born Daniel Halpin, is a British graffiti writer from London known for his distinctive tag system, which records the year each piece was created. Emerging from the capital’s graffiti scene, he became closely associated with the London Underground, painting across trains, trackside locations and disused tunnels. His uncompromising commitment to repetition and visibility made his name one of the most recognisable within British graffiti, while also leading to a conviction for criminal damage in 2011. Since then, TOX has increasingly developed studio-based works that translate the raw language of tagging into paintings and editions, connecting underground graffiti culture with contemporary art.
