Downtown Gainesville has gained another impressive mural, and this one has a beautiful twist! Curator Iryna Kanishcheva of GNV URBAN ART LLC, invited insane51 to paint a new interactive mural at the Florida Theatre located at 233 West University Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32601.
The mural has a double exposure 3D effect that reveals different artworks when viewed through the blue/red lenses of 3D glasses.
Greek artist Insane51 has garnered worldwide recognition for his ‘double exposure 3D style’ murals. His specialty is realism and photorealistic portraits combined with 3D and illusion effects.
The story of the mural for downtown Gainesville is based on the short film The Blue & The Beyond, about a young man who is searching to find someone like him in a world where he is different in every way.

“The 3D dual exposure mural by Greek artist Insane51 is completed! This is my second big project organised independently. What is important about Insane51’s art is that it is interactive. Upon completing the mural, we organised a celebration event for the community where Insane51 gifted 35 signed 3D glasses to the first visitors. People really enjoyed the moment of revealing magical effects of the unusual mural. Local artists Marley The Messenger, DJ Robzillaand Dorion James performed a unique blend of Hip Hop, R&B and Turtntablism for us. Also, we are planning on installing a permanent public art installation with red and blue 3D filters for people to enjoy.” Iryna Kanishcheva
The mural is sponsored by Bill Bryson, the new owner of The Florida Theater, who’s committed to bringing new art and cultural experiences to Gainesville through his various endeavours.
