My Dog Sighs’ Tribute to Cosham’s History and Community, LOOK UP Festival

Local artist and founder of Look Up Festival, My Dog Sighs, painted his signature eye mural at Cosham Railway for the second edition of LOOK UP. The mural features a nostalgic depiction of Cosham High Street in the 1800s and pays tribute to the nearby Queen Alexandra Hospital. Using vibrant colours and carefully cut stencils, the mural came to life with intricate details.

One of the most captivating aspects of the mural is the reflection in the eye. My Dog Sighs engaged with his fan base for ideas, and one suggestion stood out – to include a midwife within the community, as they are often the first person babies see when they are born.

The chosen figure was Midwife Jax Davies at QA Hospital, who had passed away a few years earlier. Her legacy of care and love as a maternity nurse continues to be felt by all who knew her, making her a fitting addition to the mural.

My Dog Sighs didn’t overlook any details, even incorporating a lamppost that was in the way into his artwork. The mural now serves as a meaningful tribute to the local community and its history.

Lets hope you’re on this side of the tracks when the train gates come down!
