Nuart recently invited Pure Evil (UK) and AFK (NO) to produce two new artworks for their on-going public art programme: the Nuart Sandnes Art Trail. Based on a shared desire to activate Sandnes city centre through the creation of street art murals, art installations and interventions the official trail in May 2016 and you can catch the first murals here.
Popular London street artist, Pure Evil, produced a trademark character from his ‘American Nightmares’ series, celebrating the Dark Side of the American Dream. His series includes Marilyn Monroe, in Sandnes he paints Elvis with his signature tear.
Bergen-based artist AFK produced the largest artwork titled ‘Wisdom’ on the wall of a local school. At the centre of the mural a young girl and a woman are cradling a pine cone. Throughout the span of recorded human history, pine cones have served as a symbolic representation of Human Enlightenment. Conifer pine trees are one of the most ancient plant genera on the planet, having existed nearly three times longer than all flowering plant species.
“The piece is about the passing on of wisdom. I hope it will inspire the students of Giske Ungdomsskole to keep their eyes open for wisdom on their journey to accumulate knowledge.” AFK
