Released to coincide with Invader’s 2018 Los Angeles exhibition Into the White Cube, Sunset commemorates the artist’s second major “invasion” of the city. Alongside the exhibition, Invader returned to the streets of Los Angeles, installing a new wave of mosaics across the city and expanding the digital constellation he had first begun years earlier.

Inspired by the unmistakable glow of Southern California evenings, Sunset distils one of Los Angeles’ defining characteristics into Invader’s instantly recognisable pixelated language. The rich gradients of colour evoke the city’s cinematic horizons, where sunsets have become as iconic as the streets themselves.
