In the French town of Épinal, a commune in northeastern France, Street Artist Astro has just finished a monumental outdoor mural, for a public art project, curated by Mathilde & Gautier Jourdain of Le Mur and galerie Mathgoth.
On the wall of a car park and in the heart of the city, Astro spent just under a week to paint “Perpetual Illusion”. Astro is well known for his mind-bending murals and creating optical illusions that bends space and creates other dimensions.
In this latest mural, astro mixes calligraphy and plays with geometries to create the perspective of depth. The blue colours, shadows and borders create a walkway into the wall.
Astro has brought his signature vision to Épinal, and it certainly stops traffic like the car park wall it decorates.
