ARTSCAPE SAGA is a celebration of storytelling and a dip into mankind’s universal richness of myths and folklore.
During three weeks in May and June (27 May – 16 June 2019) Artscape will orchestrate their most exciting project to date. Twenty six artists from all over the world will create large-scale public art in twelve municipalities in the Gothenburg Region in Sweden: Ale, Alingsås, Härryda, Kungsbacka, Kungälv, Lerum, Lilla Edet, Mölndal, Partille, Stenungsund, Tjörn och Öckerö. Each piece will be an interpretation of a classical folktale through contemporary art’s most popular medium: street art.
British street artist Curtis Hylton‘s mural can be found in Lerum, Sweden
His mural is inspired by the Russian Firebird myth. The firebird is a magical bird with golden feathers and crystal eyes that appears in many Russian folk stories. Several of the tales involve young Prince Ivan, son of the tsar.
