Nils Westergard

Nils Westergard is a Belgian-American street artist, stencil artist, and filmmaker renowned for his large scale murals and intricate stencilled works. With a nomadic spirit rooted in Richmond, Virginia, Nils now proudly calls Amsterdam home, a city that has deeply influenced his creative vision. His work is deeply influenced by a multitude of experiences, often exploring themes of social unrest, personal connections, and a burgeoning fascination with majestic birds of prey. Nils’ artistry captures the complexities of human emotion and societal narratives, merging them into dynamic visual statements.

In Amsterdam, he found inspiration in the city’s vibrant bike culture, prompting the inception of the “Amsterdam Cyclist Project”. This initiative not only celebrates the city’s creative cyclists but also encapsulates their stories and spirit through an artistic lens. The project culminated in a published book that vividly portrays the lives of those who traverse the streets on two wheels, further emphasising Nils’ commitment to community storytelling.
