The Plaza Hotel Murals project curated by global creative house Justkids in partnership with Life is Beautiful Festival has been awarded with the top prize in public art by Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman. The recognition is part of the Mayor’s 2018 Urban Design awards, which grant the project that makes Las Vegas a more beautiful and sustainable place to live.
The Plaza Murals Project is a colossal triptych mural piece that brings together works by three of the
biggest hands in urban contemporary art: Shepard Fairey (Los Angeles), D*Face (London, UK) and
Faile (New York City).
The three 18 story vertical murals were commissioned by Plaza Hotel Las Vegas and curated by Justkids throughout 2017, finalising production in September for the Life is Beautiful Festival. Each monumental mural can be seen from various vantage points of downtown Las Vegas, carefully complementing the iconic architecture of the Plaza Hotel and available for the public to enjoy. “I’m incredibly honoured that the Plaza Hotel mural project in downtown Las Vegas has won the Mayor’s Urban Design Awards (MUDAs) for Public Art. I believe public art enriches people’s lives by stimulating the imagination, creating conversations, and illuminating possibilities. My mural “Cultivate Harmony,”is meant to have decorative appeal, as well as to remind people that peace and harmony with each other and the planet itself are the only way to maintain what sustains us. I’m grateful to everyone who appreciates and supports public art.” Shepard Fairey

This is the second recognition Life is Beautiful and their art curator Justkids received from the city of
Las Vegas; the previous one was in 2013 for the first edition of the yearly music, & art festival that
lights up and adds permanent art in downtown Las Vegas every fall. In 2018 Justkids and Life is
Beautiful will continue their mission to infuse art to the ever-growing outdoor art gallery and culture
of downtown Las Vegas… and we can’t wait!
A big congrats to Justkids! They played a great hand and it’s a well deserved win!
