Faile
The lowdown on Faile
New York , USA
FAILE is a Brooklyn-based artistic collaboration founded in 1999 by Patrick McNeil and Patrick Miller. Known for a fragmented visual language of appropriation and collage, the duo combines imagery drawn from advertising, comic books, pulp fiction, religious iconography and popular culture. Their multidisciplinary practice spans painting, printmaking, sculpture, murals, installations and interactive environments, often exploring desire, consumerism, spirituality and the tension between attraction and unease. Moving between public streets, galleries and museums, FAILE layers distressed surfaces, bold typography and recurring characters into densely constructed compositions. Their name is an anagram of “A Life,” the title of the collaboration’s earliest project.
