A rare and powerful wall-section sculpture, Stop & Search (Donkey Documents) translates one of Banksy’s most recognisable Palestine murals into miniature architectural form, depicting an armed soldier inspecting the identification papers of a donkey. The watchtower, weathered barrier and layers of painted graffiti sharpen the work’s reflection on checkpoints, bureaucracy, surveillance and restricted movement. Created for The Walled Off Hotel in Bethlehem, the sculpture was acquired directly from the hotel and is accompanied by its official certificate and recorded hotel provenance.
